Within three seconds a website needs to answer, “What does this site offer?” Keep you headlines clear and simple. No fluff!

Your sub-headline should offer a brief description of what you offer. Avoid gobbledygook language. Be unique and show value.

It’s not only important to describe what you do, but why it matters. Potential customers want to know about why they should choose you, what are the benefits and advantages to your product or service.

Include multiple calls-to-action above the fold. Drive conversions. Offer two or three that link to different parts of your site.

In addition to benefits, list some of your key features. Show people what’s provided by your products or services.

Customer satisfaction in the form of testimonials is a powerful indicator that your company is trusted. Include just a few of your best (brief) quotes on the homepage. Adding a name and photo will make the testimonials more real.

In addition to customer’s quotes of success, any awards or other industry recognition is a key elements to making a good first impression.

To decrease bounce rates (where a viewer quickly clicks OFF your site), visitors need a clear path into the site from your homepage. Make sure your navigation is visible and leads to each page – use sub-menus if more than six pages. Navigation should be at the top of each page. And, keep it simple.

People are visual creatures. Make sure to use professional images that clearly convey what you offer. Short videos are great too. Use stock photos sparingly.

To generate even more leads from your homepage, offer a featured great content freebie – an e-book, a whitepaper, tips on your blog, or a guide to the industry.

Most visitors to your website are not quite ready to buy. Make sure you offer a link to a resource center where they can learn more and / or sign up for a newsletter.

Don’t forget to display a final call-to-action at the bottom of your homepage. Contact info in the footer with a link to a contact form is particularly effective.

With these elements your website has a strong content base. Contact us for more about how to create a successful website!
